Based on the community interest BOEALPS will be offering an AIARE 1 course this coming February! This course will be open to skiers, split boarders, and snowshoers. Snowshoes are available to rent through our gear lockers. If you’d like to participate in the ski focused course you will need to have prior ski experience, be ready to take the next step into the backcountry, and your own setup for touring.

The AIARE 1 course is geared around the backcountry user who does not have that much avalanche safety experience. It is a judgment building course packed with information. You will be introduced to topics such as mountain weather, different snow packs, tour planning, hazard recognition and evaluation, snow pack analysis, transceiver search, and much more. The AIARE 1 course requires three days on site in Glacier, WA.
