Wilderness Medicine

As a mountaineer or outdoor enthusiast, wilderness medicine training is an essential skill. In remote environments where help may be hours away, the ability to assess injuries, make critical decisions, and care for teammates can save lives. To support our community in developing and
maintaining these skills BOEALPS partners closely with CPR Seattle
and their sister organization, Backcountry Medical Training, offering courses for Wilderness First Aid (WFA) and Wilderness First Responder (WFR).

The 17-hour intensive Wilderness First Aid (WFA) course is ideal for
outdoor enthusiasts and anyone seeking advanced first aid skills or
improved disaster preparedness for urban emergencies. This course is
highly recommended for all BOEALPS members and volunteers. It is a recognized certification meeting the requirements for BMC graduates
aspiring to become BMC Instructors.

This 80-hour Wilderness First Responder (WFR) course is
considered the gold standard for those who work as outdoor
professionals. It is also suitable for those who recreate in remote areas
and want to be prepared in the event of a wilderness emergency.
