Come Rock with the Basic Rock!! Calling All Students!!The Basic Rock Class (BRC) is designed to bridge the gap between the Basic and Intermediate Climbing Classes. It introduces students to principles of technical rock and basic alpine climbing, allows them to establish mentorship relationships with more experienced climbers through a 1:1 student-to-instructor ratio, and gets them experience in following a trad lead climber that will lay the groundwork for learning to lead beyond the class. The BRC is designed to leave plenty of time for personal, non-class climbing over the summer. In 2010, it will run from June 19th to August 8th and include three full weekend outings and one single-day alpine outing. The class roster will be limited to 12 students. In addition to weekend outings, there will be one Monday-night lecture on June 14th, and one in-town practice session at the UW Rock on Tuesday July 6th. The class fee is $110 for BOEALPS members and $140 for non-members. Getting started is easy, just fill out the application and mail it in! Applications are due by May 31st. All applicants will be notified of acceptance by June 7th. To get answers to questions that are not provided on this site, please contact Fabien Mandrillon (206-948-7240).
